Karma Doescher is an accomplished field and operations geologist with over a decade of specialized experience in planning and drilling operations for structurally complex Oil & Gas projects across the contiguous United States. Throughout her career, she has participated in the drilling operations of more than 1,000 horizontal wells, spanning most major basins in the region.
Known for her leadership capabilities, Karma has consistently organized and led high-performing teams through challenging technical environments. Her hands-on approach distinguishes her work—she has dedicated significant time at well sites to develop a comprehensive understanding of drilling operations, safety protocols, and the tools essential for efficient execution.
Karma is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), Geothermal Rising (GR), Women in Geothermal (WING), and the Mars Society. In 2022, she earned recognition as the Rogii Geosteering World Cup champion, demonstrating her technical expertise and commitment to excellence in her field.
Oscar Esparza is a geologist with nearly two decades of experience in surface and subsurface evaluations with a focus on water resource management and energy development. With his talent for adapting geological expertise to diverse challenges, Oscar has built a versatile career across the energy and public water sectors. During his tenure at the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission, he has overseen critical water infrastructure initiatives, including brackish groundwater exploration and hydrogeological assessments throughout southern New Mexico.
Oscar earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Geological Sciences from the University of Texas at El Paso. He is a member of the New Mexico Geologic Society and the Geological Society of America. Oscar was awarded the NM Interstate Stream Commission LRG Employee of the Year in 2024.
Sy Luke is a professional geoscientist with over 16 years of experience in petroleum geology and geophysics, with a focus on production operations and technology development. With a drive for advancing technology and operational excellence, Sy has built a strong track record of creating value through technology-driven improvements and team development. During his tenure at Antero Resources, Sy led the company’s in-house Geosteering Center, a team accountable for more than 1000 horizontal Marcellus and Utica Shale wells within a narrow target window—among the most technically challenging assets in the Appalachian Basin. He also spearheaded the implementation of rotary steerable systems and developed algorithms for real-time stratigraphic mapping.
Sy graduated with a Professional Master’s Degree in Petroleum Reservoir Systems and a Master of Science in Geology from the Colorado School of Mines, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Geology from Western State College. He is an active member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE)
James Heatherington is an engineer and business development professional with over 35 years of energy experience. Most recently, he initiated processes to unlock $690M USD of government support for next generation geothermal in Japan. Prior to this, he brought Chubu Electric and Kajima construction in as partners and shareholders into a Next Generation Geothermal company and first project. Graduating with a Petroluem Engineering degree, he has worked for the Evaluators, JDC, an offshore drilling contractor, IHS Energy and Eavor.
Eric Gottlieb is a geologist with over two decades of experience within a unique and diverse career spanning upstream onshore US unconventional resource development, federal land management, and financial consulting. His background includes over ten years in geologic operations and asset development risk. With a talent for interdisciplinary collaboration, Eric has built a career on being trusted and relied upon to work effectively with others on a variety of complex, cross-disciplinary projects.
Eric graduated with a PhD in Geology from Stanford University, a Master of Science in Geology from New Mexico State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Western Washington University. He is the author of numerous tectonics and geochronology-focused publications in various journals and books.
Vlad Zatonski is an independent engineering consultant with 15+ years across oil & gas and geothermal development globally. His expertise spans drilling, reservoir engineering, production optimization, and techno-economic assessment. He has delivered conventional, unconventional, and geothermal projects across Canada, South America, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. A co-author of multiple patents and publications, he bridges technical and commercial considerations to drive investment-grade decisions at Source Geothermal.
Malcolm Ross, Geothermal Evangelist and Founder of Heat in Motion, LLC (a geothermal energy consulting firm), is an experienced Geologist and Marine Geophysicist with a long history of designing, developing, and applying innovative thinking to solving a broad range of complex spatial and geological problems. He has broad experience in the creation and application of geological, geophysical, technoeconomic, and GIS tools across major energy corporations, university settings, and startups. A formative experience for him was serving on the GameChanger™ team at Shell, where he sought revolutionary high-risk, high-reward, high-failure-rate ideas with a substantial impact on Shell’s energy future, earning the title “Black Swan Detector.”
He holds a PhD from Rice University and an MS from the University of Texas Department of Geological Sciences (at the Institute for Geophysics). He also holds adjunct faculty positions in the Earth, Environment, and Planetary Sciences Department at Rice University and the University of Texas Jackson School, where he teaches at least one course per semester.
Mayowa Rosanwo is a supply chain and procurement professional with three years of experience embedded in large-scale oil sands operations across thermal and mining assets. His work spanned the full procurement lifecycle — leading $20M+ in competitive RFP processes, negotiating $2M+ in cost savings, and building analytical systems that scaled across entire organizations.
Mayowa brings the same systems thinking to digital execution. He is the founder of PresenceNet, a blockchain protocol built on the XRP Ledger that won the Impact Category at Stand With Crypto Canada. He serves as a producer and digital strategist at Business on Camera, where he manages projects from initial strategy through to final delivery across technology, energy, and education.

Eva Peza is a geoscientist with over 20 years of global experience spanning conventional and unconventional reservoirs across the United States, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Arabian Peninsula. As Managing Director of Black Swan Energy and Senior Development Geologist at Kosmos Energy, Eva has pioneered unconventional reserve booking and 3D Earth modeling workflows in Saudi Arabia and beyond. She holds a PhD in Geology from the University of Oklahoma and serves as an Adjunct Professor at Oklahoma State University.
Matt Keay is Co-Founder of Source Geothermal, where he leads partnership and business development, with a focus on the Middle East. He is also CEO of Business on Camera, a Canadian clean-tech and energy storytelling firm that helps high-growth companies raise capital, enter new markets, and accelerate adoption through strategic narrative, media, and investor positioning.
